''Cicindela puritana'', commonly referred to as the Puritan tiger beetle, is a federally listed threatened species of beetle in the United States. It is native to Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont; it is now extirpated from the latter two states. Today it occurs along the Chesapeake Bay, an area near the Sassafras River, and a small stretch of land along the Connecticut River.〔(''Cicindela puritana''. ) The Nature Conservancy.〕 There are two occurrences on the Connecticut River,〔Omland, K. S. (2002).
